6.Applications
It is a monomer for polyvinylpyrrolidone homopolymers and copolymers, an active diluent for UV-curable or electron beam-curable coatings, widely used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, coatings, ink diluents, UV adhesives, and raw materials for glues. Properties of N-Vinylpyrrolidone (NVP):
1.Easy Polymerization: A: Typically, trace amounts of ammonia or NaOH inhibitors are added during transportation or storage to prevent polymerization. Alternatively, based on customer production process requirements, no inhibitors may be added, and users are advised to use it within a short period. B: Pure N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) is obtained through vacuum distillation during production.
2.Easy Hydrolysis: A: N-vinylpyrrolidone in aqueous solution can undergo acid-catalyzed hydrolysis, but polymerization nearly stops when pH reaches 13. Ensure complete removal of water during the synthesis of N-vinylpyrrolidone. B: Add 0.1 NaOH.
3.Homopolymerization: The polymerization product involving only N-vinylpyrrolidone monomer is polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP).
4.Copolymerization: N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP) monomer copolymerizes with other unsaturated monomers, resulting in polymeric compounds containing both NVP structural units and structural units of other unsaturated monomers.
